Last Sunday we looked at the spiritual discipline of studying God’s Word. Studying and reflecting on Scripture leads us to know God better and love Him with our minds (Luke 10:27). We are challenged to go deeper than merely reading the Bible. God has much more for us than occasional snacking on His Word. Instead, we're invited to feast—to be consumed with Scripture, and let our joy and wonder grow as a result.
We want everyone to feel equipped to do this! Pastor JR Briggs suggests 5 simple questions that you can ask yourself while reading the Bible:
What’s going on in the story/passage?
What excites, inspires, or encourages me about the passage?
What challenges, jolts, confuses, or even offends me about the passage?
What does this tell us about the essence of God or the nature of Jesus?
What will we do with what we just heard/learned in the next seven days?
And here are additional resources that you can download or read that can take you deeper in your study of Scripture:
May you feast on the Word of God, and be full as you taste and see His goodness (Psalm 34:8).
