Kids' City

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. - Matthew 19:14 "

Welcome!

Kids’ City is the children’s ministry of The District Church. Our mission is to provide a safe and fun environment that works to equip and support parents to raise their children knowing, loving, and following Christ. We take very seriously our responsibility to care for these kids and do everything in our power to keep them safe, supported, and pointed to Jesus.

Age-Groups

At Columbia Heights, we have several classrooms that meet during the 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM service.

  • First Steps: 6 weeks to 17 months
  • Discovery: 18 months to 35 months
  • Firm Foundation: 3 years to 5 years
  • First through Third Grade

At East Side, we have several classrooms that meet during the 10:30 AM service.

  • 6 weeks to 4 years
  • 5 years to 8 years
  • 9 years to 12 years
  • 13+ years

Safety

All teachers are required to submit to a thorough background check. In addition, all teacher helpers must attend training.

Classes

All classes focus on sharing the love of Jesus with kids in a manner that is accessible to them. In First Steps, this includes praying over children, playing, and singing songs together. In Discovery, this includes playing and discussing colorful, textured storyboards that introduce bible stories in a simple and fun way. In older classrooms, this includes structured play and interactive Bible stories and songs. [Continue scrolling for more]

Our volunteers are well-trained, vetted (including rigorous background checks), and passionate about caring for children. Many volunteers are responsible only to pray for our ministry and families and to serve at least once a month. We have a lead teacher in each classroom who leads the Bible story based on preplanned lessons and related activities. We'd love for you to join us!

Apply here to volunteer with Kids' City. This begins the conversation of determining where you're uniquely gifted to serve on our team.
